Eagle Creek Park Park

A large municipal park northwest of Indianapolis, Indiana, offering extensive natural areas and a sizeable reservoir used for outdoor recreation. It is among the largest city parks in the United States.

A mix of wooded trails, open recreation areas and water access for boating and fishing on the park reservoir, alongside picnic areas and facilities for day use. The park also supports environmental education through on-site nature programming and visitor facilities.

Developed and managed by the city’s park authority to provide regional outdoor recreation and conservation within the Indianapolis metropolitan area; facilities and programming have expanded over time to accommodate a wide range of uses.

Located northwest of downtown Indianapolis within Marion County, the park sits on the city’s outskirts and is accessed by car from the metropolitan road network.

From downtown Indianapolis, take I-465 northwest to the 56th Street exit and follow signs to Eagle Creek Park; the park’s main entrances are clearly signposted from West 56th Street. There is also limited IndyGo bus service to nearby neighborhoods; parking is available at main trailheads and the marina.

• Arrive early on weekends to secure a parking spot near the main picnic areas and trailheads.
• Rent a canoe or paddleboard at the marina for a different perspective of the reservoir's limestone bluffs.
• If birding, bring binoculars for spring and fall migration-shorelines attract waterfowl and raptors.
