Duchcov Chateau

Duchcov Chateau is a large historic château in the town of Duchcov in the Ústí nad Labem Region of northern Bohemia. It is best known as the final residence of Giacomo Casanova.

The château presents restored state rooms and period interiors arranged to show aristocratic life. A suite of rooms and displays interpret Casanova’s time at Duchcov and there is an extensive park surrounding the residence.

The site developed from a medieval stronghold into a Baroque and later-period château under successive noble owners; it became associated with major Bohemian families and was the seat of local aristocracy. In the late 18th century Giacomo Casanova served as librarian at the estate and died there.

The château stands in the town of Duchcov in northern Bohemia, Ústí nad Labem Region, and is accessible from regional towns in northern Czech Republic.
