Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Amusement Park Disney water park with wave pool and slides
A Walt Disney World water park themed around a storm-tossed resort, Typhoon Lagoon offers a large wave pool, raft slides, a lazy river and family play areas.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is a water park at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida, that opened in 1989 and is themed around a tropical storm and shipwreck. It is one of two major Disney water parks serving resort visitors.
The park’s signature features include a large surf-capable wave pool, a winding lazy river called Castaway Creek, and a variety of body and raft slides for families and thrill-seekers. Picnic and lounge areas, a children’s play area, and seasonal special events are also common draws for day visitors and resort guests.
Conceived and built by The Walt Disney Company, the park opened in 1989 with a storytelling theme of a storm that left surf, slides, and a beached freighter behind. Over time attractions and guest facilities have been updated and renovated while retaining the stormwreck theme.
Typhoon Lagoon sits on the Walt Disney World property in Orange County, Florida, near the community of Lake Buena Vista and the greater Orlando tourist area. The park is accessed from the Disney resort road network and parking areas.
- Admission note: Located within the Walt Disney World Resort complex; combined tickets or park hopper options do not apply - separate admission is required for the water park.
