How to Get to Det Udom
Det Udom (Ubon Ratchathani province) is best reached by regional rail or by flying into Ubon Ratchathani (UBP) and continuing by road. The town is served by local trains on the Ubon line and by short local transfers from Ubon city.
Ubon Ratchathani Airport (UBP): The closest airport for Det Udom is Ubon Ratchathani Airport; expect a road transfer of around 45-90 minutes depending on service and route. Taxis/private cars from UBP to Det Udom typically cost in the several hundreds of baht (budget 600-1,200 THB) and take roughly 1-1.5 hours.
Bangkok - Suvarnabhumi (BKK): Many travellers fly into Bangkok and continue by overnight bus or train to Ubon Ratchathani, then use local transport to Det Udom. Domestic flights to Ubon (about 1 hour) plus a road transfer are the quickest option from Bangkok (domestic fares typically 1,200-2,000 THB).
Train: Det Udom is served by local stops on the State Railway of Thailand’s Northeastern (Ubon) line (Det Udom station). Regional trains connect Det Udom with Ubon Ratchathani and points west; journey times from Bangkok are long (10+ hours for ordinary services), with fares ranging by class.

How to Get Around Det Udom #
Det Udom’s town centre is compact and mostly walkable for everyday errands and market visits. For trips to surrounding villages or Ubon Ratchathani, use motorcycle taxis, songthaews and provincial buses; expect very low fares (single-digit to low-double-digit THB for short rides). Bring cash and a willingness to use basic transport; English is uncommon and services run less frequently than in bigger cities.
