How to Get to Deoghar

Deoghar is served by a small regional airport and by rail through nearby Jasidih Junction; many visitors arrive by train or by long‑distance bus. The regional airport (DGH) shortens travel time for those coming from nearby states, but most long‑distance travellers use Jasidih/road connections.

By Air

Deoghar Airport (DGH): Deoghar has a regional airport (Deoghar Airport) with a small number of domestic flights. From the terminal you can take a prepaid taxi or a shared auto/e‑rickshaw into town; expect a 15-30 minute transfer to the Baidyanath Temple / central Deoghar and typical taxi fares around INR 250-600 depending on vehicle and luggage.

Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna (PAT): Patna is the nearest major airport with many more flight options. Road transfer from Patna to Deoghar takes about 5-7 hours by car or bus; private taxis typically cost around INR 4,000-6,500 one way, while scheduled state and private buses are cheaper (see Bus paragraph in the next card) and take roughly the same time.

By Train & Bus

Train: The nearest main railhead for Deoghar is Jasidih Junction, which is the primary station for long‑distance trains serving Deoghar. Jasidih is a short road trip from central Deoghar (roughly 20-40 minutes depending on traffic). From Jasidih you can take an auto, e‑rickshaw or taxi; local fares into Deoghar are typically INR 100-300. There are direct and connecting trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Patna and other cities - ticket prices depend on class (general to AC) and journey length.

Bus: State-run and private buses connect Deoghar with nearby cities (Patna, Ranchi, Jasidih, Bhagalpur and Kolkata). Travel times vary widely - for example Patna→Deoghar is typically 5-8 hours by road - and fares generally range from about INR 200 for a non‑AC seat to INR 500-800 for higher‑comfort overnight coaches. Buses arrive at local bus stands; from there take an auto or e‑rickshaw into the temple area.
