Denver Zoo is located inside City Park, just east of downtown Denver. By car it’s about 2-4 miles (roughly a 10-15 minute drive) from downtown Denver; common approach is via East Colfax Avenue (US‑40) to either York Street or Colorado Boulevard where park entrances and zoo parking are located. The zoo has on-site paid parking and nearby street parking.
Public transit: RTD buses serve City Park; several local bus routes stop along Colfax and streets bordering the park - expect a short walk (typically under 10-15 minutes) from the nearest bus stop into the zoo. The zoo is also accessible from downtown via a short bus transfer from light rail hubs.

- Arrive at opening to see many animals at their most active and to view popular exhibits before crowds build; check the daily keeper talk/feed schedules on the zoo website and plan your route around those times.
