Dampa Tiger Reserve Wildlife Reserve

Dampa Tiger Reserve is a protected forest area in the state of Mizoram in northeast India, designated to conserve native wildlife and forest habitats. It forms part of the region’s network of protected areas in the Indo-Myanmar biodiversity hotspot.

The reserve comprises dense tropical forest and hilly terrain that supports a variety of wildlife typical of the region’s evergreen and mixed forests. Visitor facilities are limited and access is generally more remote than better-known national parks.

The area was formally protected in stages to conserve wildlife and forest cover and later recognised as part of national efforts to protect endangered species. Management focuses on habitat protection and patrolling against poaching.

The reserve lies in western Mizoram near the international boundary with Myanmar, within northeastern India.
