Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli Forest National Park

Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli Forest National Park is a protected area in northeastern Greece in the Evros area of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, noted as one of the country’s most important refuges for birds of prey. It is recognised for its mosaic of oak woodland and open habitats that support raptor populations.

The area has been managed for conservation to protect its avian biodiversity and traditional land uses such as grazing and small-scale forestry have continued around it; conservation measures and monitoring have focused on raptor populations. Local communities around Dadia, Lefkimmi and Soufli have been involved in park management and ecotourism initiatives.

The park lies in northeastern Greece, within Evros regional area, centred on the villages of Dadia and Lefkimmi; terrain is hilly woodland and pasture near the border region of northeastern mainland Greece.

• Best time to visit: Peak raptor migration is concentrated in spring and autumn, making those seasons the best time for large numbers of birds of prey.
• Viewing points: Observation hides and short hikes concentrate sightings; many of the park's viewing points are close to the villages of Dadia and Lefkimmi.
