Czartoryski Museum

The Czartoryski Museum is an art and history museum in Kraków, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, that houses a significant private collection assembled by the Czartoryski family. Its holdings include major European paintings and Polish historical objects.

The museum’s highlights include Old Master paintings and a selection of applied arts and historical mementos assembled by the Czartoryski family. One of its most widely known works is Leonardo da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine”, displayed in the museum collection.

The collection was assembled by members of the Czartoryski family from the late 18th century onward and was moved and reconfigured over the 19th century as the family relocated and expanded its holdings. The institution has operated as a public museum in Kraków since the 19th century and its collection has been curated and conserved through subsequent restorations and administrative changes.

Situated in Kraków’s city centre in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, the museum is located in the historic urban area of the city and is readily reached from Kraków’s Old Town.
