Cornwall Park is a large inner-city parkland in Auckland centered on the volcanic cone Maungakiekie, commonly called One Tree Hill. The park was created on land gifted by Sir John Logan Campbell and combines formal gardens, open lawns and recreational facilities.

Park visitors use a network of walking tracks, picnic areas, sports fields and landscaped gardens; the site is also noted for its sheep-grazed lawns and heritage plantings. The summit of Maungakiekie features an obelisk and visible Māori earthworks and is a principal destination within the park.

The park’s history ties to Sir John Logan Campbell’s donation of land for public use and to the long Māori history of Maungakiekie as a fortified and cultivated pa site. Management balances recreation with protection of cultural features and natural character.

Cornwall Park sits roughly 3 to 4 kilometres south of Auckland’s central business district in the Greenlane/Epsom area, surrounding and providing public access to Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill.

About 6 km south of Auckland’s CBD. Drive via Dominion Road or Great South Road to One Tree Hill / Cornwall Park. Public buses serve the area from central Auckland; the walk from nearby suburbs is straightforward.

• Climb the hill to the Lawn Memorial for one of the best views over central Auckland and the harbour.
• Visit early when the garden beds are best tended and the café (on-site depending on opening) serves breakfast.
• Watch for local events and concerts-Cornwall Park often hosts community activities that affect parking.
