How to Get to Concepción (volcano) #
Concepción is the large stratovolcano that dominates Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua. To reach it, take the ferry from San Jorge (on the mainland near Rivas) to Moyogalpa on Ometepe - regular ferries and fast passenger boats operate from San Jorge; from Managua many travellers drive or take a shuttle to San Jorge. From Moyogalpa you can hire a taxi, moto-taxi or guide to reach the base of Concepción; most climbs start within a short drive from Moyogalpa and require hiking from the local trailheads (arrange transport and guide in advance).
