Coer d’Alene Travel Guide

Located on the western edge of the Coeur d’Alene National Forest, the city of Coeur d’Alene in Idaho is surrounded by campgrounds and magnificent lakes. Made famous by its world class golfing, the local area has remained perfect and is extremely popular with tourists, especially those of the domestic sort.

The city and surrounding area have been noted for their relaxed charm; and no matter how many times you visit, the natural beauty always leaves you wanting more. There are numerous activities to keep even the most demanding tourist occupied, ranging from boat cruising and fishing, to camping and nature watching. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

The pace of life in Coeur d’Alene is extremely subdued, or as one visitor put it, “as laid back as a country fair”. The downtown area is packed with appealing cafés where you can watch the afternoon pass you by after a morning spent snapping off a few rolls of film in the beautiful forest that surrounds it.

Golf: chase the ball around America’s most beautiful golf resort, which features the world’s only floating green. The course is open to the public all year round.

Outdoors: families and individuals alike are catered for by the surrounding natural beauty which boasts over 80 parks with a plethora of campgrounds, 47 hiking trails, swimming, horseback riding, tennis and some fantastic fishing.

Theme parks: located just north of Coeur d’Alene is the largest theme park in the northwest; and there is also a water park located nearby.
