How to Get to City of San Marino#
The City of San Marino is reached overland from nearby Italian hubs. The nearest airport is Federico Fellini (Rimini/Miramare, RMI); Bologna (BLQ) is the next-best international option. Most visitors arrive via Rimini’s railway station and a short bus or taxi up into the republic.

There are regular bus shuttles and regional buses from Rimini (and the airport area) up to the City of San Marino; the road transfer takes roughly 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis and private transfers are faster and take about 25-35 minutes.
Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ): A larger international option with more connections. From Bologna you can take a train to Rimini (see Train below) and then a bus up to San Marino; total travel time is usually 1.5-2 hours depending on connections.
Train: The nearest major train station is Rimini Railway Station (Stazione di Rimini), served by Trenitalia regional and intercity trains. Typical journey times: Bologna-Rimini ~1-1.5 hours, Milan/Rome longer; buy regional tickets at stations or online.
Bus: From Rimini there are regular direct buses/shuttles to the City of San Marino operated by local coach companies (look for Bonelli Bus/line services). The bus climb from Rimini to San Marino takes around 30-45 minutes; buses depart from around the Rimini station and other points in Rimini.

- Cable car (Funivia) (€2-€6) - The San Marino funivia runs between Borgo Maggiore and the City of San Marino - a short, scenic lift that is often quicker than the road for that leg. It’s useful for arriving from Borgo Maggiore and for short transfers within the capital area.
