How to Get to Chirundu, Zimbabwe

Chirundu (on the Zambia-Zimbabwe border) is best reached by road from Lusaka or Harare; Lusaka is the closer international airport. There is no direct passenger rail to Chirundu-buses, shared taxis and private cars are the usual onward options.

By Air

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Lusaka (LUN): Lusaka is a common international gateway for travellers heading to the Zambia-Zimbabwe border area near Chirundu. From Lusaka to Chirundu the road journey is about 2.5-4 hours by private car or bus; intercity buses and shared taxis operate this route with fares that vary by carrier.

Harare International Airport (HRE): Harare is the main Zimbabwean gateway; from Harare to Chirundu expect a long drive (around 6-8 hours depending on border formalities) or a combination of domestic flights to closer regional airfields and onward road travel.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is limited passenger rail service that could get you to larger Zimbabwean towns, but no direct rail link to Chirundu-rail is not the practical option for the final leg.

Bus: Intercity buses and shared minibuses run from Lusaka and Harare toward Chirundu; Lusaka→Chirundu takes about 3-4 hours by road depending on stops and traffic. At the border, expect some waiting time for immigration and possible vehicle changes.
