How to Get to Salamanca
Salamanca (Coquimbo Region) is most commonly reached by road from La Serena (La Florida Airport) or by long‑distance bus from Santiago. Buses are reliable for regional travel; renting a car offers more flexibility to explore rural surroundings.
La Florida Airport (LSC) / La Serena: La Serena’s La Florida (LSC) is the main airport for the Coquimbo region; from La Serena to Salamanca by road takes around 1-1.5 hours. Taxis or transfers cost roughly CLP 20,000-40,000 depending on vehicle.
Arturo Merino Benítez / Santiago (SCL): Santiago is the main international hub; from Santiago to Salamanca the bus ride typically takes 5-6 hours by long‑distance coach. Flights to La Serena plus a shorter road transfer usually save time compared with a direct Santiago bus for many travellers.
Train: There is no regular long‑distance passenger train service to Salamanca; Chile’s rail passenger services are very limited in this region.
