Chengcing Lake (Cheng Ching Lake) is a large artificial lake and public park in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, and stands as one of the city’s principal urban green spaces. It is a multi-use recreational area centred on an expansive reservoir and landscaped grounds.
The park area offers paved walking paths, cycling routes and lakeside promenades around the water, plus boat rental and picnic areas. Several temples, pavilions and small islands are sited around the lake, providing multiple short circuits for strolls and photography.
The lake and surrounding park were developed in the mid-20th century to serve both as a water reservoir and a recreational public space, and have been managed as a municipal park since then. Facilities and shoreline landscaping have been expanded and maintained by local authorities over time.
The site sits in the Niaosong District of Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan, within the metropolitan area of Kaohsiung and easily reached from the city by road or local transit.
How to Get to Chengcing Lake #
Take Kaohsiung MRT to Formosa Boulevard and transfer to a local bus (routes vary) toward Chengcing Lake, or take a taxi for a straightforward 15-25 minute drive from central Kaohsiung. There is parking near the main entrance if driving.
