Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum

The Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum is a small Islamic shrine and mausoleum in the Bukhara Region of Uzbekistan centered on a perennial spring. The site is locally significant for its association with a holy spring and is visited as a devotional and historic spot.

The complex is compact and focused around the spring and its covered masonry structure, with a domed tomb chamber and simple courtyard space. Sightlines are intimate - the main features can be viewed in a short visit and are often combined with nearby historic landmarks in Bukhara.

The site is traditionally linked in local legend to the prophet Job (Ayub) and has been maintained as a holy spring and mausoleum over many centuries. The visible masonry and dome reflect later Islamic shrine architecture rather than a single ancient surviving structure.

It sits in the Bukhara oasis area of western Uzbekistan, within Bukhara Region and close to the historic core of Bukhara city. The landscape is the flat, irrigated steppe of the region rather than mountainous terrain.
