Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park is a historic fortified city and hill complex in Gujarat that preserves a mix of urban ruins, mosques, temples and water management features. The ensemble is significant for its medieval town planning and for the survival of both Islamic and earlier Hindu structures.
Visitors encounter stone-built mosques with ornate facades, the remains of the walled city and gates, stepped water tanks and architectural fragments spread across the site. A steep hill ridge contains older religious structures and pilgrimage pathways leading to hilltop shrines.
The site includes an older settlement on Pavagadh Hill and an urban center that became prominent under the Gujarat Sultanate in the late 15th century, when rulers developed mosques, public buildings and fortifications.
