Chamlang is a major Himalayan peak in eastern Nepal with an elevation of about 7,319 metres. It is part of the high mountain terrain of the Mahalangur Himalaya and is known to mountaineers for its steep ridges and technical climbing routes.
The peak forms part of complex glaciated terrain and is considered a demanding climb requiring advanced alpine skills. It is less frequented than many of the region’s more famous summits, so expeditions tend to be relatively small and remote.
Chamlang sits in eastern Nepal’s high mountain zone within Koshi Province and is part of the same general mountain system that includes peaks such as Makalu and Everest to the west and northwest of the massif.
