Chacchoben is a pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site in Quintana Roo, Mexico, known for its stone-built plazas, platforms and pyramid structures. The site is open to visitors and is one of the publicized Maya sites in southern Quintana Roo.
Walkable paths lead among several restored masonry pyramids and plaza complexes, allowing close-up viewing of building foundations, stairways and carved masonry. A small visitor area provides basic interpretation and access to the main complexes.
Chacchoben was a regional Maya settlement with construction phases spanning preclassic and classic periods; modern archaeological work has identified and restored several of the principal buildings. Excavation and conservation have revealed domestic and ceremonial architecture.
The site lies inland in the southern part of Quintana Roo, within reach of coastal tourism corridors on the Costa Maya and accessible by road from nearby towns.
