The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Istanbul is the principal Roman Catholic cathedral for the city’s Latin-rite community, built in the mid-19th century. It remains an active parish church and a focal point for Istanbul’s Catholic population.

The church is known locally for its role serving expatriate and Latin-rite faithful and for its central urban setting. Religious services and community activities are held there on a regular schedule and it appears on many guidebooks as the main Catholic cathedral in modern Istanbul.

The current building dates from the mid-1800s when it was constructed to meet the needs of a growing Catholic community in the Ottoman capital. It has continued in continuous liturgical use since its completion and has been maintained as a functioning cathedral.
