How to Get to Castle Howard #
Castle Howard is a stately home north of York in North Yorkshire. By car take the A64 between York and Malton and follow local lanes/signs to the Castle Howard estate; there is visitor parking on site. The house is approximately a short drive north of York (the A64 is the main approach). Limited public bus services run from York toward Malton and villages near Castle Howard-check local timetables and expect a taxi or a short walk from the nearest stop to reach the estate entrance.
Tips for Visiting Castle Howard #
- Visit Castle Howard early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid mid-day coach parties; the house and main garden rooms are noticeably quieter at opening and toward closing.
- Allow time to walk beyond the main house to the broader estate - features such as smaller garden areas and estate monuments often receive far fewer visitors than the central rooms and offer a much quieter experience.
