Carl Schurz Park is a small municipal park on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City, named for the 19th-century German-American statesman Carl Schurz. It is an established neighborhood green space managed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

The park contains planted lawns, pathways, seating, a playground, and a dog run, and it provides views toward the East River along its riverfront edge. Nearby cultural landmarks include the mayoral residence, Gracie Mansion, which sits adjacent to the park.

The park bears the name of Carl Schurz in recognition of his public service; the site has been maintained as a public parkland for many decades under city management. Its landscape has been shaped by municipal park planning and neighborhood stewardship efforts.

Carl Schurz Park is on Manhattan’s Upper East Side at East End Avenue around East 86th Street, immediately adjacent to Gracie Mansion. Take the 6 train to 86th Street (Lexington Avenue) and walk east about 10-12 minutes (roughly 0.5-0.7 miles) to East End Avenue and the park; the M86 crosstown bus also runs along 86th Street and will stop closer to East End Avenue to reduce the walk.

• Visit early morning or late afternoon to enjoy quieter pathways and better light along the East River promenade; those times also reduce overlap with nearby commuter traffic.
• Enter from the East End Avenue/86th Street area to reach the park's main lawns and Gracie Mansion quickly - the northern esplanade along the river is its best-underrated spot for views.
• Don't skip the riverside promenade and the park's planted terraces; many visitors only use the central lawns and miss the quieter waterfront paths and memorial plantings.
