The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock, North Carolina, preserves the home and farm where poet and writer Carl Sandburg lived during the later part of his life. The property interprets his domestic life, writing, and the working farm he maintained.

Visitors can tour the Sandburg family house furnished with personal items and See exhibits about his literary career. The grounds include barns and a working farm area once used to raise goats and other livestock, as well as trails through woodlands that are open to the public.

Carl Sandburg purchased the Flat Rock property in 1945 and lived there with his family until his death in 1967; the site was later established as a National Historic Site to preserve the house, farm, and landscape associated with his life and work.

The property is in Flat Rock in western North Carolina, within the Blue Ridge foothills and near the towns of Hendersonville and Asheville. The site sits on wooded grounds with trails and pastoral views.

The site is in Flat Rock, roughly 20 minutes south of Asheville, NC by car via I-26. From Asheville, take I-26 East to Exit 53 (NC-191/US-25/US-176), then follow local roads to Carl Sandburg Lane and the park entrance.

• Visit the gravesite and the farm museum early in the day to avoid school group crowds; the house tour is limited in capacity.
• Take the short nature trails on the property-there are goat paddocks, the original dairy barn, and a small orchard that Sandburg tended.
• If traveling from Asheville, allow 45-60 minutes' drive; picnic areas on-site are pleasant for a post-visit lunch.
