The Bahamas & Turks & Caicos (The Bahamas, Turks & Caicos)

By April the trade winds are steady and temperatures climb toward the upper 20s°C (low 80s°F); Antigua Sailing Week further south may influence charter traffic. Turks & Caicos begins to feel busier with spring-break visitors; Providenciales’ Grace Bay remains popular, so expect lively beaches and booked excursions. Short, warm showers are possible but generally the month is dry and ideal for water sports and boating.

Greater Antilles (Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola - Dominican Republic & Haiti, Puerto Rico, Cayman Islands)

April often marks the shoulder season’s end and can be a sweet time to visit - hot enough for beaches but before the regular wet season; daytime highs sit comfortably in the upper 20s°C. Cultural festivals and regattas pick up; Havana’s weather supports long walking tours and coastal drives. Short, isolated showers can happen but are usually brief and won’t wreck itineraries.

Leeward Islands (Northern Lesser Antilles: Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis, Montserrat, Guadeloupe and surrounding islets)

April marks the tail end of the peak season: warm, pleasant weather with steady winds that sailors love and fewer rainy interruptions than later months. Antigua’s marinas are full and the smaller islands maintain good beach conditions; hiking trails in the volcanic parts of Montserrat and Guadeloupe are accessible and green. Shoulder‑season rates begin to appear toward the month’s end.

Windward Islands & Southern Lesser Antilles (Dominica, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada)

April brings a mix of sunshine and strengthening humidity as the dry season winds down; sea temperatures are beautifully warm and beaches are still lively. St Lucia and Grenada host food and cultural events that draw regional visitors, so checking local calendars helps when planning. Light, breathable clothing and sun protection are sufficient most days, with a rain layer for the occasional shower.

ABC Islands & Southern Caribbean Coast (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuelan islands and mainland nearby coast)

April often brings slightly warmer days and steady tradewinds across the ABC islands, making it a prime month for sailing and offshore diving around Curaçao’s drop‑offs. Trinidad’s coasts remain warm and birdwatching is excellent as wetlands and mangroves are accessible in drier conditions. Travel during this month is practical and comfortable with reliable sea conditions.

Western Caribbean & Central American Caribbean Coast (Yucatán Peninsula - Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum; Belize; Bay Islands of Honduras; Caribbean coasts of Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama)

April typically warms up further and sea temperatures climb, which is ideal for diving and snorkeling but makes sun protection essential on beach breaks in Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Bocas del Toro. Belize and the Bay Islands offer good marine conditions before the heavier rains arrive. Pack lightweight clothing, strong reef‑safe sunscreen and plan active mornings for inland hikes.
