Canton Tower is a multi-use observation and telecommunications tower on the south bank of the Pearl River in Guangzhou’s Haizhu District, completed in 2010. It functions as an urban landmark with restaurants, observation decks and entertainment facilities.
Visitors use the tower for panoramic city views from several heights and for recreational attractions at the top, including an external gondola system often referred to as the Bubble Tram. The tower’s exterior is frequently lit with programmable LED lighting after dark.
Construction took place in the 2000s with opening in 2010, and the tower was developed as a modern architectural icon and urban viewing platform for Guangzhou and the Pearl River exhibition district.
Geographically it sits beside the river near the Pazhou exhibition area and is served by the Canton Tower metro station, making it centrally accessible from Guangzhou’s urban core.

How to Get to Canton Tower #
Take the Guangzhou Metro to Canton Tower station - the station serves the tower directly, and the tower is a few minutes’ walk from the station exit. If driving from Guangzhou city centre, the tower on the Pearl River’s southern bank is a short drive across the Liede/Lijiao bridges; allow time for riverside traffic and use riverside roads leading to Canton Tower.
