Coworking matters more in Canggu than almost anywhere else, because villa Wi-Fi is unreliable and the spaces are where the community lives. The spaces below are ones we have checked are open, with prices as published or recently reported. Prices and opening hours change often in Bali, and some well-known spaces have closed (Dojo Bali in 2022 and Outpost Canggu’s coworking floor in 2024), so confirm before you buy a month.
How to Choose a Space#
- Stay close. A great space across the Shortcut at rush hour will not get used. Pick one within a few minutes of where you live.
- Take day passes first. Try two or three spaces before buying a month.
- Check for backups. Ask whether the space has two internet providers and a generator; storms and power cuts happen.
- Look for 24/7 access if you work US or European hours. BWork, Tropical Nomad and SETTER offer it.
- Ask about phone booths if you take a lot of calls. Open-air spaces can be noisy.
Quick picks: for meeting people, Tropical Nomad; for size and 24/7 access, BWork Bali; for calls, SETTER; for a cheap day, Tribal Bali.

Laptop-Friendly Cafes#
Canggu has hundreds of cafes, and many are fine with laptops, but some popular brunch spots discourage them at busy times. The best cafes for work have air-conditioning, outlets and a separate work area. Mornings before 10 am are the quietest.
ZIN Cafe
A cafe with a free dedicated work area near Batu Bolong beach, with outlets at every seat. Best before 9 am, when it is quiet and cool.
Best for: Early mornings by the beach
Hungry Bird Coffee Roaster
A long-running specialty roaster on a quiet lane, popular with remote workers for strong Wi-Fi and some of the best coffee in Canggu.

Satu-Satu Coffee Company
A bright Berawa cafe with good coffee and all-day food, handy for a few hours of work near the gyms and beach clubs of Berawa.
Best for: Working in Berawa
Amolas Cafe
Spacious tables, comfortable chairs, plenty of outlets and an air-conditioned room make this one of the most laptop-friendly cafes in the area.
Best for: A long, comfortable session
Crate Cafe
A Canggu institution: a huge, busy cafe with cheap smoothie bowls and coffee. Better for an hour of email or a working breakfast than a day of calls.
Best for: A working breakfast
Cafe Etiquette in Canggu#
- Order regularly. A drink every couple of hours, or a meal, is the fair rate for a table.
- Don’t work at a table for four during the brunch rush.
- Use headphones for calls, or book a phone booth at a coworking space.
- Respect “no laptop” signs, which some cafes use at weekends and lunchtimes.
- Tip if the staff look after you. It is not expected everywhere, but it is appreciated.
Working US or European Hours from Canggu#
Bali is UTC+8 with no daylight saving. London is 7 hours behind in summer and 8 in winter, so a European working day runs into the Bali evening. New York is 12 hours behind in summer and 13 in winter, so US meetings fall between 9 pm and 3 am, or very early in the morning.
If you work nights, choose a coworking space with 24/7 access and a villa near it, because riding home late on dark lanes is when accidents happen. Gojek food delivery runs late, and some convenience stores are open 24 hours.
