Cangandala National Park

Cangandala National Park is a small protected area in Malanje Province in central-northern Angola created to conserve local wildlife, most notably the Giant sable antelope. It represents one of the few dedicated preserves for this endangered species.

The park comprises a mosaic of savanna and woodland habitats where the Giant sable and other savanna species occur; game-viewing is the main attraction and sightings are rare without targeted surveys. Trails and management facilities are modest and visits are typically arranged through provincial authorities or conservation organizations.

The park was established in the 20th century as a reserve for the Giant sable after the species was recognised as threatened; it has since been a focus of conservation and monitoring efforts. Management has varied with national capacity and conservation programs have involved both governmental and international partners.

Located in Malanje Province in central-northern Angola, the park lies near the small town of Cangandala and is accessed from regional roads in the province.
