Çamlıca Mosque

Çamlıca Mosque is a large mosque complex on Çamlıca Hill on the Asian side of Istanbul, completed in 2019 and intended as a national-scale place of worship and cultural venue. The complex includes the main prayer hall, multiple minarets and a cultural centre with exhibition and educational facilities.

The mosque’s architecture references classical Ottoman forms with a dominant central dome and multiple minarets; the complex also houses a museum, conference halls and library to support cultural programs. The hilltop location provides extensive views over the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn and the historic peninsula.

The mosque was built by the Turkish state and opened for public use in 2019; it functions as both a major active mosque for daily and Friday prayers and as a venue for cultural events and visitor education. It is part of modern developments on Çamlıca Hill and incorporated into the city infrastructure for worship and tourism.

Çamlıca Hill sits on the Asian side of Istanbul above the Üsküdar district, offering an elevated position overlooking the Bosphorus strait and central parts of the city.
