Calatrava la Vieja is a medieval fortress complex and former town in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, notable as an early stronghold associated with the military-religious Order of Calatrava. Its origins and principal use date to the medieval Reconquista period.

Remains at the site include ruined defensive walls, towers and traces of urban occupation that illustrate its role as a fortified settlement. The location was strategically important during the 12th and 13th centuries and changed hands during military campaigns of the period.

Control of the site and its use evolved with the fortunes of the Order of Calatrava and the shifting frontier between Christian and Muslim polities in central Spain. Over time the Order relocated its principal headquarters and Calatrava la Vieja declined as a primary administrative centre.
