How to Get to Buried Pyramid #
The Buried Pyramid (Sekhemkhet) lies within the Saqqara necropolis near Giza. Visit by car, taxi, or an organized tour from Cairo or Giza - Saqqara is reached by road from Cairo (the Saqqara entrance is the access point for the site). Most visitors travel by road from central Cairo or Giza; expect a drive of roughly 30-60 minutes depending on traffic.
Tips for Visiting Buried Pyramid #
- The Buried Pyramid sits within the Dahshur complex, which is much quieter than Giza-visit early morning to avoid heat and to combine it with the nearby Red and Bent Pyramids while the site is least crowded.
- Hire a local Egyptologist guide or book a guided tour in advance: smaller Dahshur monuments are less interpreted on-site than Giza's, and a guide will explain access, separate tickets and the site's archaeological context.
- Expect rough, unpaved paths and a sparse visitor infrastructure-allow extra time to walk between monuments and to find shaded spots for breaks during hot months.
