Bueng Boraphet is the largest freshwater swamp and lake complex in central Thailand, located in Nakhon Sawan province. It is an important wetland for fisheries and waterbird populations.

The area offers boat tours, fishing, and birdwatching opportunities with observation points and hides at several locations around the marsh. Waterbirds and wetland species congregate seasonally, making it a key destination for local and visiting birdwatchers.

The wetland has long been used by local communities for fishing and as a seasonal habitat for migratory and resident waterbirds; parts of it have been managed for conservation and fisheries.

The lake lies in Nakhon Sawan province, south of the city of Nakhon Sawan, within the central plains of Thailand.

• Wildlife viewing: Boat trips and observation points are common ways to see waterbirds, particularly in the dry season when water levels and bird concentrations change.

Bueng Boraphet is about 25 km east of Nakhon Sawan town. It is reachable by local bus or by car along Highway 225; parking and small boat operators are available at several access points.

• Arrive at dawn during November-February to see migrating waterfowl and the famous spot for spot‑billed pelicans and painted storks.
• Bring binoculars and a local bird‑watching checklist - the local interpretive centres are small but knowledgeable.
• Avoid the main road bridge at midday-birdwatchers and photographers shoulder the best viewpoints in the early morning.
