Brazos Bend State Park is a large state park in southeastern Texas known for its wetlands, lakes, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The park combines day-use trails, lakeside boardwalks, and an on-site public observatory.

Visitors use short trails and boardwalks to view alligators, wading birds, and other wildlife concentrated around the park’s lakes and creeks, with good wildlife viewing from areas such as the Elm Lake and Cattail Marsh. Picnic facilities, multi-use trails, and fishing spots are available for day visitors and campers.

The land that forms the park was acquired and developed as public parkland to protect the riverine and wetland habitats along the Brazos River and to provide outdoor recreation for the Houston metropolitan area.

The park sits in Fort Bend County southwest of the Houston metropolitan area, within driving distance of the city and adjacent to floodplain and riverine landscapes.

Brazos Bend State Park is southwest of Houston. From Houston take State Highway 36 south toward Rosenberg, then local roads to FM 762 and on to Park Road 72; the main park entrance is signed off FM 762. The park is roughly a 45-60 minute drive from central Houston depending on traffic.

• Arrive before sunrise at the lakeside boardwalk for alligator viewing-early mornings are when the reptiles are most visible.
• Visit the George Observatory (located in the park) on scheduled public nights for telescopic viewing of planets and deep-sky objects.
• Use the Cypress Creek Nature Trail for birding; bring binoculars to spot warblers and migratory species in spring.
