Exploring Botanic Garden Ubud#
Just over a kilometre from Ubud, the Botanic Garden Ubud opened in 2006 as a display of vegetation, flowers and other natural attractions prized for its peace and tranquillity. Set 350 metres above sea level, its grounds take in a ravine, hillside, river, meadow and natural forest, with just about every kind of flower and plant you might hope to see gathered in one place. Among the most popular spots are the Great Fountain, the Water Lily Pond, the Bamboo Grove and the Fern Garden.
The garden was laid out in the manner of ancient Greek and Roman gardens, and wandering through it can feel like navigating a maze-like labyrinth. If you take the time to trek the full circuit, which is well worth doing, it is best to arrive in the morning, as the afternoons grow hot.
How to Get to Bali Botanic Garden#
From Denpasar or Kuta, drive north-west on Jalan Raya Bedugul (approx. 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic). Public transport is limited; many visitors hire a driver or take an organized tour. The garden is a short walk from the main Bedugul junction; follow signs for Kebun Raya Eka Karya.

- Hire a local guide at the entrance to learn botanical names - many labels exist but local lore and uses are best explained by staff.
