BJK İnönü Stadium
Stadium Istanbul football stadium home to Beşiktaş JK
The former Beşiktaş stadium on the Bosphorus, long used for Süper Lig fixtures and public events; fans remember its waterfront terraces and match-day atmosphere.
The BJK İnönü Stadium was a football stadium in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey, widely known as the home ground of Beşiktaş J.K. It originally opened in 1947 and had a seating capacity of roughly 32,000 before demolition.
The stadium occupied a tight urban site on the Bosphorus waterfront, immediately west of Dolmabahçe Palace, making its silhouette visible from ferries and the shoreline. Match days historically offered energetic crowds in black-and-white colors and views of the strait from surrounding streets.
Built for Beşiktaş J.K. and named for statesman İsmet İnönü, the ground underwent several renovations across the 20th century as Istanbul’s football infrastructure modernized. The original structure was demolished in 2013 and replaced by Vodafone Park, which opened in 2016 on the same site.
Located in the Beşiktaş neighbourhood on Istanbul’s European side, the stadium stood on the Bosphorus near Dolmabahçe and within walking distance of central Beşiktaş transport links.
- Waterfront location: Sited on the European shore of the Bosphorus immediately west of Dolmabahçe Palace, offering clear views from the waterfront and nearby roads.
- Replacement and capacity: Original stadium opened in 1947 with a seating capacity around 32,000 and was demolished in 2013; the site was redeveloped as Vodafone Park, opened by Beşiktaş JK in 2016.

Tips for Visiting BJK İnönü Stadium #
- On matchdays avoid driving - the Beşiktaş waterfront area gets heavily congested; use ferries or the T1 tram to Kabataş (then walk) and aim to arrive 60-90 minutes before kick-off to clear security and soak up the pre-match atmosphere.
- If you visit on a non-match day, combine a walk along the Bosphorus promenade with a stop at the club museum inside the stadium (check opening times in advance) - it's the easiest way to see the ground without crowds.
- Expect strict bag checks and security screening at the gates; buy tickets from official sources in advance and head for the sector printed on your ticket rather than trying to swap on site to avoid queues and gate delays.
