How to Get to Bensafrim
Bensafrim is easiest reached via Faro Airport (FAO) or by rail/bus through nearby Lagos on the Algarve Line. Regular regional trains and intercity buses link Faro and Lisbon with Lagos; from Lagos a short taxi or local bus will get you to Bensafrim.
Faro Airport (FAO): Faro is the nearest international airport for Bensafrim. From Faro you can take the CP regional train from Faro station to Lagos (the closest main rail town) - journey time to Lagos ~1h15-1h30 and fares typically €4-€8. There are also EVA/ALG bus services from Faro airport/terminal to Lagos taking about 1h15-1h40 with fares around €6-€10. A taxi or private transfer from Faro airport to Bensafrim/Lagos is faster (about 45-60 minutes) but costs roughly €70-€100.
Lisbon Humberto Delgado (LIS): Lisbon is the main alternative for long-haul flights. From Lisbon Oriente you can take Alfa Pendular/Intercidades trains toward Faro and change at Tunes or Faro for the Algarve Line to Lagos; total rail travel to the Lagos area is usually 3-3.5 hours and fares vary widely (€20-€45 depending on train class). Direct long‑distance coaches (Rede Expressos) connect Lisbon to Lagos in about 3.5-4 hours for roughly €20-€30.
