There is no direct passenger rail to Bến Tre, so arrivals by air or rail generally transfer through Ho Chi Minh City and continue by bus or private car into the Mekong Delta.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN): Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City is the main international gateway for reaching Bến Tre. From SGN you can take a taxi or ride-hailing car directly to Bến Tre (journey ~2-3 hours depending on traffic; typical private car/taxi fare roughly 800,000-1,400,000 VND). A cheaper option is to take the airport shuttle or local bus into Mien Tay (Western) Bus Station in HCMC and then an intercity bus to Bến Tre (bus leg ~2-3 hours, see Bus below).
Can Tho International Airport (VCA): Can Tho is an alternative for some domestic flights and is located southwest of Bến Tre. Ground travel from Can Tho to Bến Tre typically takes around 2-3 hours by car; private transfers or taxis will usually cost around 700,000-1,200,000 VND. There are fewer direct public-transfer options from VCA, so plan a private shuttle or combination of buses if arriving here.
Train: There is no passenger rail service directly to Bến Tre; the nearest national rail hub is Saigon Railway Station (Ga Sài Gòn) in Ho Chi Minh City. Travelers coming by train should disembark at Saigon and transfer to Mien Tay (Western) Bus Station by taxi or local bus, then take an intercity bus to Bến Tre (see bus paragraph). Train fares to Saigon vary by origin - once in Saigon, expect a short transfer to the bus station (taxi ~30,000-100,000 VND).

Bến Tre town has its provincial bus stations where most intercity services arrive; from there you can take local buses, motorbike taxis or ferries to reach outlying communes and the river islands.
How to Get Around Bến Tre
Bến Tre is best navigated by a mix of bus for arrival, plus scooter or bicycle for local exploration; ferries are indispensable for island access.
