Bayeux Cathedral, formally the Cathedral of Our Lady of Bayeux, is the Roman Catholic cathedral in Bayeux, Normandy and the seat of the Bishop of Bayeux and Lisieux. The building dates principally to the 11th and 12th centuries and is an important medieval landmark.

The cathedral features a Romanesque nave with later Gothic modifications, including a prominent façade and towers that define Bayeux’s skyline. Interior highlights include medieval stonework, stained glass and a crypt that preserves earlier construction phases; it is often visited alongside the nearby museum that houses the Bayeux Tapestry.

Construction began in the 11th century and the cathedral was consecrated in 1077 in the presence of William the Conqueror; subsequent centuries saw Gothic rebuilding after fires and modifications that introduced new vaulting and decorative features. The building has served continuously as the city’s episcopal church and has survived damage in various conflicts, including World War II.

The cathedral stands in the historic centre of Bayeux in Normandy, close to the city’s main streets and civic areas and within short walking distance of the museum where the Bayeux Tapestry is displayed.

Bayeux Cathedral stands in the centre of Bayeux and is easy to reach by rail or road. Regional trains run from Caen to Bayeux (about 30 km west of Caen); from Bayeux station it is a short walk into town - roughly 600-800 m (around 5-15 minutes) to the cathedral. By car, follow the N13 into Bayeux and park in the town centre.

• Visit the cathedral early in the morning before tour groups arrive and pair the visit with the nearby Bayeux Tapestry museum so you see the quieter interior light of the nave without the museum crowds.
• Check church service times posted locally-mass or special services can restrict access to parts of the cathedral, so plan around them if you want uninterrupted time inside.
