Batura Sar is the highest summit of the Batura Muztagh, a subrange of the Karakoram in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, with an elevation of about 7,795 metres. It is among the highest of the Karakoram’s 7,000-metre peaks and dominates the local skyline.

The mountain forms part of a rugged massif overlooking glacier valleys and is approached from the Hunza region. Its slopes and ridges are glaciated and present technical climbing challenges for high-altitude teams.

The Batura group has long been known to mountaineers exploring the western Karakoram; the area is remote and typically accessed via long road journeys from district towns followed by valley approaches and camps on glacier forefields.

Geographically the peak lies in the western Karakoram, within the mountainous terrain of Gilgit-Baltistan.

  • Elevation: At around 7,795 metres above sea level, it is the highest peak of the Batura Muztagh subrange of the Karakoram and one of the westernmost 7,000-metre peaks in the greater Karakoram system.
  • Climbing: The peak is remote and technical, approached from the Hunza region of Gilgit-Baltistan; climbs require extended glacier travel and high-altitude mountaineering experience.
