Barzan Tower Tower

Barzan Tower refers to historic circular watchtower structures located in the Umm Salal area of Qatar. They were built as lookout and observation towers and are a local architectural landmark.

The towers are round in plan and sit on raised platforms, designed to provide wide views of the surrounding plains and sea approaches; they have been conserved and form a visible historic site in the municipality. They are commonly referred to in the plural as the Barzan Towers.

Historically the towers served defensive and observational purposes and later became a cultural monument; they have undergone conservation and stabilization works in recent decades. Their form reflects traditional watchtower construction rather than a modern building type.

The towers stand in Umm Salal Mohammed, north of central Doha, and are reachable from the capital by road in a short drive.
