Bangka Lungshan Temple, commonly called Longshan Temple, is a historic Buddhist and Taoist temple in the Wanhua district of Taipei. It was first built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian and has served as an active religious center since then.
The temple complex contains intricately carved wooden beams, stone and ceramic ornamentation, multiple prayer halls and courtyards used for worship and community rituals. It is a focal point for traditional festivals and daily devotional activities in Taipei.
Longshan Temple has been repaired and reconstructed multiple times following fires, earthquakes and wartime bombing, with restorations preserving its traditional architectural style. It continues to function as both a place of worship and a cultural landmark.
The temple stands in Wanhua, a historic district in western Taipei close to traditional markets and old urban neighbourhoods. It is easily reached from central Taipei by public transit.

- Arrive early morning (around 6-8 AM) to see active worship rituals and to photograph the architecture with far fewer tourists and vendors than later in the day.
- Cross the road to explore the adjacent Bopiliao Historic Block and narrow Wanhua streets-many visitors only see the temple itself and miss the well-preserved Qing‑era buildings and alleys nearby.
- Avoid peak periods (weekends and major Chinese festivals such as Lunar New Year) when the temple and surrounding markets become extremely crowded; if you must go then, plan a very early or late visit and be prepared for limited personal space.
