How to Get to Bakau

Bakau sits on the Atlantic coast near Banjul and is normally reached through Banjul International Airport (BJL) with a short road transfer. Local shared taxis and minibuses provide frequent connections across the coastal strip.

By Air

Banjul International Airport (BJL): Bakau is close to Banjul and Serekunda; fly into BJL and take an airport taxi or shuttle the short distance west to Bakau (about 20-35 minutes depending on hotel location). Airport taxis to the Bakau area usually cost around GMD 300-800 (approx.) and are the simplest option.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no passenger rail network in The Gambia.

Bus: Local shared taxis and minibuses run between Banjul, Serekunda and Bakau frequently. The coastal corridor is well-served compared with inland routes, with short travel times and many departures throughout the day.

How to Get Around Bakau #

Bakau is walkable in the town centre and along the beach; many visitors stroll between attractions.
