The Bahrain World Trade Center is a twin-tower commercial skyscraper complex in Manama, Bahrain, completed in 2008. It is notable for integrating wind turbines into the building design.
The complex contains office space, retail units and a hotel component, with the twin towers connected by three skybridges that each support a large wind turbine. The towers are an architectural landmark on Manama’s skyline and are often cited in discussions of sustainable high-rise design.
Designed in the early 2000s and completed in 2008, the project aimed to showcase a fusion of modern commercial architecture and renewable energy technology. Since opening it has housed international offices and served as a high-profile development in Bahrain’s capital.
The towers stand on the waterfront in central Manama within the Capital Governorate, close to other commercial and diplomatic precincts of the city.
- On-site wind turbines: The towers are linked by three skybridges that each support a large horizontal-axis wind turbine, making the complex one of the earliest examples of integrated wind power in high-rise architecture.
