Badut Temple Archaeological Site

Badut Temple (Candi Badut) is a small Hindu stone temple in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, dating to the 8th century and regarded as one of the oldest surviving temples in East Java.

The site comprises a single main andesite shrine on a modest compound set within an urban area; the temple preserves carved stone work and a stepped base and is easily viewed on a short visit.

The temple dates to the 8th century and originally functioned as a Hindu shrine. It later fell into ruin and has been subject to partial restoration in the modern era.

Located within the city of Malang in East Java, the temple sits close to the urban centre and is roughly 90 km southwest of Surabaya.
