Ateni Sioni Church overlooks the Ateni valley in Shida Kartli, near Gori. From Tbilisi take an intercity minibus/bus from the Didube or central bus stations to Gori (about 1-1.5 hours), then continue to the village of Ateni by local taxi or minibus (the village is roughly 10-15 km from Gori); from the village centre the church is a short walk (around 5-10 minutes).

- Ateni Sioni sits in the Ateni gorge close to the main Tbilisi-Gori road-approach from that road and allow time to walk the short path up to the church rather than trying to view it only from the roadside.
