A prominent stone ensemble depicts members of the Asen ruling family and forms a dominant silhouette on the skyline above the city. The composition is located within Asenevtsi Park and is frequently used as a vantage point for panoramic views of Veliko Tarnovo and the nearby Tsarevets fortress.
The monument was created in the 20th century as a modern commemorative work honoring the medieval rulers of the Second Bulgarian Empire; it has since become a recognizable symbol of the city.
