The Arrephorion is the remains of a small ancient building on the Acropolis of Athens in Attica. It served as the quarters for the Arrephoroi, maidens who had ritual duties connected to Athena’s cult.
Visitors to the Acropolis archaeological site can view the foundations and archaeological remains of the Arrephorion near the north side of the hill. The site is interpreted as part of the wider religious and domestic complex that includes the Erechtheion.
The structure dates to the classical period and is documented in ancient sources as the place where the Arrephoroi lived while serving at the Acropolis. Excavations have revealed foundation remains and associated material that locate the building in the classical precinct.
