How to Get to Older Parthenon#
The Older Parthenon is part of the Acropolis archaeological area in central Athens. Walk up from the Acropolis southern slopes entrance (near Dionysiou Areopagitou Street) or approach from the metro: Acropolis station (Red Line) is a 5-10 minute walk. The site is well signed; allow at least 2-3 hours to explore the hill and nearby museum.

- Buy the Acropolis combined ticket (valid 5 days) in advance online to avoid the long ticket line at the southern slope.
- Visit the Older Parthenon ruins early morning or late afternoon to see the sun catch the charred foundation layers left by the Persian destruction of 480 BCE.
- Bring a printed map of the Acropolis strata - the older temple footprint is not a separate structure but visible in the archaeological layers near the Parthenon.
