The Arabika Massif is a limestone karst massif in the western Greater Caucasus, located in the Gagra Range of the Black Sea coast highlands. It is notable for extensive karst development and some of the deepest known cave systems on Earth.

The massif’s caves, shafts and underground passages include the internationally renowned Krubera-Voronya system, which reaches depths of roughly 2,197 metres and has drawn many international speleological expeditions. The landscape features steep limestone cliffs, sinkholes and rugged ridges typical of deep karst terrains.

Speleological exploration and geological research have been the principal activities associated with the massif in recent decades, documenting its extreme vertical caves and underground hydrology. The area also supports mountain flora and isolated wildlife populations adapted to the high-relief environment.

The Arabika Massif sits in Abkhazia / western Georgia on the northern edge of the Black Sea, forming part of the Gagra Range. Its remote, rugged terrain and complex cave systems make field access and exploration challenging.
