Mount Ara is a volcanic mountain in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province, forming a prominent cone in the regional landscape north of Yerevan. The mountain is known locally for its forested lower slopes and for being a visible landmark in the central Armenian plateau.
The summit area is volcanic in origin and the slopes have been used historically for pasture and seasonal grazing. Vegetation zones change with altitude from wooded lower slopes to more open terrain higher up.
The mountain occupies a position within Armenia’s volcanic highland region and is accessible from nearby provincial roads; it is part of the broader Caucasus volcanic and tectonic setting.
